Most Recent Announcements 4/18 - FINAL PAPER is DUE TONIGHT by 11:55 PM WebCT time. Don't be late! 4/15 - Final paper is due on Monday by 11:55 PM WebCT time. Final presentations begin on Wednesday APril 20th. Attendence is required for the final presentation sessions. 4/5 - Final group project status reports are tomorrow. One member from each group should be in attendance to present the group report. Again, this is an informal report like last time. Final presentation schedule is now listed. No other groups indicated a preference for the presentation date so the holes in the schedule were filled in order. If there are any problems with this let me know ASAP. After tomorrow's class I will not be inclined to adjust this schedule. 3/28 - Check the final presentation schedule for available dates/times - they are filling fast. Monday April 25th is full, only room for one more group on each of April 20th and April 22nd. 3/23 - The status reports seem to indicate that most groups are proceeding with the project on schedule. I've added (in addition to the groups page) a final presentation schedule to the list at the left. Four groups have already indicated a preferred date for their presentation. Availability is on a FCFS basis, so get your request in as early as possible in order to have a shot at your preferred date. Regular class days have room for only two presentations, with seven occurring during the final exam period. The schedule will be updated as groups send me their preferences. 3/22 - Hope you all enjoyed Spring Break! Tomorrow each group will present a brief status report of your project efforts. I'll also go over the final presentation schedule. 3/8 - Greetings!! By now all groups should have completed their formation and your projects be well underway. On Wednesday March 23rd, we'll meet in class to hear progress reports from each group. Each group should prepare a 1-2 min presentation which explains how your group is planning to divide the workload as well as a project time line. Each group must have a representative at this meeting. 3/7 - Group formation appears to be complete. Check the group page to be sure that I have the make-up of each group listed correctly. Please email me any corrections. As soon as you identify your topic, let me know. 2/21 - Mini-presentations are over. Grades will be posted on WebCT shortly for both reports. Today, we will discuss details of the final project. 2/8 - NOTE DATE CORRECTION - The dates listed for the second mini-presentation were incorrect on the original listing...the calendar is/was correct. Presentations for mini-report #2 begin next Monday February 14th not the 21st! 2/3 - Topics and presentation times are now posted for the second mini-report. Format will be the same as for the first report. Only difference is you didn't get to choose which topic you present and the order of presenting is reversed from the first presentation. 1/31 - Mini-topic presentations got underway well today...10 students gave presentations. My schedule was a bit optimistic scheduling 12/day...as a result the schedule has been extended by one day. If you have not presented yet, please look over the revised schedule for your new day and/or time. Also, if you have not yet completed the formation of your project group, please do so by Friday and email me the group composition. There are still several of you that have not indicated your group. We will discuss the next presentation and the group project in more detail on Friday this week. 1/26 - As a further explanation of what it is you are preparing for next week...prepare a 3 minute talk (we have a tight schedule so don't go long) that gives a brief overview of the technology about which you are reporting. Cover how the technology evolved, what area it is expected to impact, and what the expected impact might be. Stress why it may be important for our "company" to consider this technology in more detail. When you complete your presentation, submit a copy of the slides via WebCT so that I will have a copy of them. 1/19 - I've received a few more group listings, but not from everyone yet. Please form your groups as soon as possible. Friday will be devoted to a discussion on the first mini-report presentation. Topics have been assigned based on your lists of the 10 IT areas you compiled. For the most part everyone will be able to do their first choice. See the Groups page for your topic and presentation day/time. 1/14 - The "Groups" page has a listing of every one in the class. As you form your groups please send me an email so that I know who is in what group. You don't have to pick a topic yet, although if the group has already decided on a topic - please let me know what it is. If you would like to be in a group, but don't know any one in the class, send me your email address and I can send it to others in the same situation. You can also post a message to the course WebCT bulletin board. Don't forget to have your assignmet ready for Wednesday. Have a nice long weekend and I'll see you on Wednesday. 1/12 - No Class Friday Janaury 14th - Work on Assignment #1 and have it ready for Wednesday January 19th 1/12 - Assignment #1: Topic List - Due Wednesday January 19th - Prepare a list of 10 emerging IT technologies that you have heard/read about and are interested in pursuing in more detail.
