The UCF Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition Team took 1st Place in the 2015 Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition held at Kennesaw State University on April 7-8. This is the third consecutive year that UCF has won 1st Place in the Southeast region. The UCF team also won two specialty awards...."Best in Business" for accurately completing the largest number of business injects of any team and "Best in Service" for maintaining the highest overall system up-time of 92%. This year's up-time score breaks the previous up-time record for the Southeast region (which was also set by UCF in 2013). Other finalist teams competing this year included 2nd Place USF, 3rd Place UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Wilmington, College of Charleston, Georgia Regents University, Montreat College, and Tennessee Technical University.
The UCF CCDC Team will now travel to San Antonio, TX to compete in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition on April 24-26 in hopes of defending their 2014 National Championship title for another year.
Members of this year's team include: Carlos Beltran (Captain), Jason Cooper (Co-Captain), Austin Brogle, Conner Brooks, Kevin Colley, Alex Davis, Nathaniel Dennis, Tyler Dever, Kevin DiClemente, Andres Giron, Jonathan Lundstrom, and Shane Welch.
