6 Biography

Dr. Uwe Assmann did his PhD thesis Generation of program optimizations with graph rewriting at University of Karlsruhe in 1995. As a side action he implemented the optimizer generator OPTIMIX. He has also been involved in the design of the compiler model CoSy which is marketed by ACE b.V. Amsterdam (info@ace.nl). Currently he works in architecture and component systems, and is interested in orthogonal composition of software components.

Rainer Schmidt is scientist at the Forschungszentrum Informatik (center for computer science research) at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He manages research projects in the area of workflow-management and component-based systems. He received a master in computer science at the University of Erlangen, Germany.
