This paper introduces genetic programming as a better approach to developing routing protocols for ad hoc and sensor networks. These networks have varying degrees of demands on the routing protocol that no single protocol will suffice in each circumstance. Thus, we decided to define the success factors or fitness for a routing protocol, and the computer should be given the goal of finding the best algorithm.
