A-ISAC COLLEGIATE CYBER CHALLENGE

Two teams of UCF students finished 1st and 2nd Place in the inaugural A-ISAC Collegiate Cyber Challenge hosted at the Aviation ISAC Annual Summit on Wednesday, September 19th at the Gaylord Palms Convention Center in Kissimmee, FL. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University created the aviation-themed CTF competition focusing on capturing “hackers on a plane”. Cybersecurity Analysts from Southwest and American Airlines, Symantec, and DOE National Labs served as mentors and observers during the day-long competition. UCF’s Team Pegasus took an early lead and remained ahead of other teams throughout the day, winning the event with a total of 2600 points and receiving a $2100 cash prize. UCF’s Team Mindbenders finished 2nd with 1600 points and received a $1500 cash prize. Coming in third was USF’s team with 1560 points and received a $900 cash prize. Other schools competing included Florida International University, University of Tampa, St. Petersburg College, and Embry-Riddle University.
