At the UCF Department of Computer Science, we boast a diverse and growing faculty that’s been recognized locally, nationally and internationally for its impactful work, including training the next generation of cyber security warriors, paving the way in digital forensics and harnessing the power of virtual reality to teach quantum computing.
Our academic programs are consistently ranked among the top programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. We offer specialized degrees to keep our graduates at the forefront of many of society’s challenges, including master’s degrees in computer vision, cyber security and privacy, and digital forensics, as well as interdisciplinary master’s programs in data analytics and fintech. Our doctorate in computer science is the oldest computer science Ph.D. program in Florida, as well as the first Ph.D. program at UCF. Our students regularly publish in the top venues of their respective fields and they are sought after by research institutes, universities and industry research labs.
The Department of Computer Science is housed within the College of Engineering and Computer Science, one of 13 colleges at UCF. It is home to the world-renown Center for Research in Computer Vision, which attracts researchers from across the globe. Our researchers are also collaborating with industry partners as well as faculty from other disciplines through the Florida High-Tech Corridor, the UCF School of Modeling and Simulation, the UCF Artificial Intelligence Initiative, the UCF Cyber Security and Privacy Cluster, and more.
We’re also located in sunny Orlando, Florida, near the top theme parks in the world, a major international airport, beautiful beaches and cultural venues such as the Orlando Museum of Art and the Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts. Moreover, we’re conveniently located near major engineering companies such as Siemens, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and Mitsubishi Power Systems, to name a few.
