Congratulations to Dr. Joseph LaViola for receiving $19,600.00 from Jardon & Howard Technologies (JHT), Inc for a project titled “Feasibility for the development of a physics, navigation, and meta gestures API for training, simulations, and entertainment”.

Congratulations to Dr. Avelino Gonzalez for receiving $29,555.00 in new funding (for a total of $94,344.00) from the US Department of Education for a project titled “Engineering a New Global Environment (ENGE – FIPSE Atlantis)”.

Professor Kien A. Hua’s paper “Online Video Delivery: Past, Present, and Future” (http://dx.doi.org/10.1145/2502435) is included in the special section of ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing, Communications, and Applications (TOMCCAP), devoted to papers from the ACM International Conference on Multimedia, Best Papers of ACM Multimedia 2012.

Congratulations to Dr. Avelino Gonzalez on receiving $1,924.00 in new funding (for a total of $74124) from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for a project titled “Dependable Systems International Research and Educational Experience (DeSIRE2)”.

I have a strong passion for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science and information technology. For undergraduate courses, I emphasize providing students with a good understanding of current techniques, improving their problem-solving capability, enhancing their basic computer skills, and preparing them to become part of the proficient IT workforce.

Dr. Kien A. Hua was officially made a Pegasus professor at the Founder’s day convocation on April 3, 2013. He joins a group of distinguished colleagues who have been recognized as exemplars in the excellence with which they accomplish each component of the university’s tri-partite mission of teaching research and service.

Congratulations to Drs. Joseph LaViola and Marshall Tappen. Their tenure and promotion to associate professor cases were approved by the president and provost and will be effective in August!
