The Washington Post has published an article about the growing need for cybersecurity experts, and mentioned the UCF CCDC Team’s trip to Washington DC for winning the CCDC National Championship.

Congratulations to Dr. Avelino Gonzalez on receiving $231,974 from the NSF in new funding from the NSF for a project titled: “IRES: Avatar based Adaptive Storytelling System”.

Congratulations to Dr. Mubarak Shah and Dr. Niels da Vitoria Lobo on receiving $600,000 from the NSF for a project titled: “RET Site: Research Experiences for Teachers in Computer Vision and Bio-Medical Imaging.”

The UCF CCDC team was in Washington DC last week, receiving honors for winning the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition for the second year in a row.

Congratulations to Dr. Ulas Bagci whose software and algorithms are described in a UCF Today story, and on his publication in Nature Communications about the MERS-coV vaccine efforts, which was published on July 28.

A story about Dr. Kenneth Stanley’s new book, Why Greatness Cannot be Planned: The Myth of the Objective, with references to a lot of work from Dr. Stanley’s lab appeared on the front page of http://fivethirtyeight.com/ on July 23, 2015, which is a popular news site.

Nathan Dennis, a sophomore IT major and member of the Collegiate Cyber Defense Club was interviewed for a WFTV 9 special report on public WiFi security issues.

Congratulations to Dr. Sumit Jha on receiving a $16,000 REU supplement from the National Science foundation for a grant titled “XPS: EXPL: FP: Collaborative Research: Formal methods based algorithmic synthesis of more-than-Moore nano-crossbars for extreme-scale computing.”

Congratulations to Dr. Ladislau Boloni (and Dr. Randall Shumaker) on receiving $50,176 from General Dynamics for a project titled “FY2015: H8-4 Robotics Collaborative Technology Alliance (RCTA)”.
