CCDC Team wins Regional; advances to Nationals!
March 29, 2020
Congratulations to the CCDC Team and Coach Tom Nedorost for winning the At Large Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition Regional on Sunday, March 29th. In this year’s competition the University of Alaska-Anchorage came in 2nd, and Dakota State University finished 3rd. UCF’s Team now advances to compete in the National CCDC Championship which will be held virtually from May 22-24.
During the Spring semester as restrictions on travel and group gathers were enacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition adjusted some rules and converted this year’s competition to a virtual format so the annual competition could be held. Students were able to compete remotely from their home residences. This year is the 15th anniversary for the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. UCF has competed for the last 8 years winning a Regional competition 7 of the past 8 years. UCF won three consecutive National Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016 and finished 2nd in 2018 and 2019 at the National Competition.
