UCF Places 1st and 3rd in 2023 DOE Adventurer Competition

Congratulations to Cameron Whitehead (MS-DF) for finishing in 1st Place and to Caitlin Whitehead (MS-DF) for finishing in 3rd Place in the 2023 Conquer the Hill: Adventurer Competition on April 15th. The sibling duo are members of the top ranked UCF Collegiate Cybersecurity Competition team coached by Dr. Tom Nedorost. The annual competition is sponsored by the Department of Energy and included 120 student competitors from colleges and universities across the United States. During the competition, students ed independently to complete anomalies mapped to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Framework during an energy industry-related adventure. Competitors were presented with a variety of easy, medium, and difficult cyber challenges that they could tackle up to three times in any order they wished. The competitor who successfully completed the most challenges and earned the highest number of points was crowned the winner.
