Success in addressing this problem will grow out of an understanding
of the nature of realistic programming frameworks. This understanding
can be used to drive the adaptation of existing specification and
automated analysis techniques for the problem.
In this position statement, rather than provide our own view
of how the problem should be solved, we seek to stimulate discussion
between framework researchers and researchers in automated
analysis. Towards this end we lay out some research questions,
with some thoughts on each question,
in three areas: the nature of software frameworks, specifications
of frameworks and analysis of frameworks.
